long drive back from family visit today, our go-to halfway point coffee shop was having a maker's market with a record store pop-up & DJ so no parking, crowded, astonishingly loud. BUT I found my perfect son at the market, look upon him, LOOK

Emmrich/Spite/Lucanis, what if I kept your demon busy with spectacular sex so he would let you sleep, and then you wanted in on the spectacular sex, ha ha, jk, unless...

Such a rare, valuable experience, to spend so much time getting to intimately know a spirit, one just human enough to express his needs and wants with some measure of nuance but still spirit enough to offer rare insight. What scholar in his right mind wouldn't drift off during boring chapters, lulls in conversation, the thousand quiet moments in between more engaging occupations? Things Emmrich could try, ways he could push, questions he should seek answers to. And, of course, hypotheses about the reactions he might expect, flashes of anger, confusion, need and want, sensations filtered through the eager vessel of Lucanis' body and reactions reflected back on his handsome face. What Spite would do, pushed past the edge, overstimulated, Lucanis' thighs shaking, head thrown back, eyes flashing that bewitching violet - And it is perfectly normal to spare some of that attention for Lucanis, so accommodating and helpful. Emmrich may be helping him get some much needed sleep, but it's truly Lucanis offering the largest favor here, and it is of utmost importance to ensure his safety and comfort. So, yes, Emmrich does have a habit of falling a bit too hard and too quickly in love. And a habit of spending too much of his time in daydreams, building an entire long life and happy future with someone whose company will in truth lose its luster after a matter of days. But there is a line between the thoughtfulness that allows him to conduct his unusual experiment in a way that benefits all involved, and the distracting intensity of his inconvenient emotions. A fine line, but a line nonetheless, and Emmrich is more than capable of recognizing which side he stands on.

Rook/hardened Neve, stress relief low pressure not-quite-hate-sex in the wake of Minrathous

Drinking excellent wine with a beautiful woman, one of life’s finest - The laugh disarmed them.Maybe on purpose, but Neve was also definitely holding back, so maybe not. Gathering courage, maybe, or ticking through a list of potential consequences. Rook assumes it takes more than half a bottle to turn that part of her brain off. Still. Half strength or no, it’s a good slap, rings clear in the quiet of the room, stings just enough to wake up all the nerves in Rook’s body. “Well?” They ask, and Neve tilts their head, considers. No doubt taking in the flush of their cheeks, lazy heat in their eyes, the hitch of breath and way they can’t help tilting hips and shoulders closer. Neve doesn’t seem the sort to miss when someone’s showing interest. “I can do better,” she says. “Give me the other one.” Rook grins and turns, a trickier angle but if Neve hurts her hand on their horn then, well, they’re happy to kiss it better. But of course she doesn’t, a perfect hit right to the roundest part of their cheek. Hard enough Rook hears it before they feel it, hard enough they could probably trace the outline of each graceful finger if they wanted to. Neve’s eyes are sparkling, brows raised like a challenge, or an invitation, and she sighs when Rook kisses her in this deep, pleased way that goes right to their cock.

An Antivan Crow, lurking in the city of the dead. “Is there anything I could help you with?” Charon asks. “A resting place you’re looking for, or - “ “No,” Lucanis says. “I’m waiting for Emmrich. I’m sure his romantic walk in the garden will only take another hour or two.” Charon doesn’t quite get the joke, though it’s clear there is a joke not to get from the twist of Lucanis’ mouth, and that it isn’t especially funny from the half-sour note to his voice. Spirits are simpler than people, but Charon suspects if he could find the word for the specific feeling drifting in that half-joke half-anger space he might just as well apply it to Lucanis as neatly as the names spirits give themselves. “Alright,” Charon says. “If you do need something, the wisps quite like to play messenger. Just tell them what you want, or simply want it hard enough, and they’ll find the right person.” Lucanis huffs out a laugh, another joke Charon doesn’t get even though it seems he made it.

It’s too quiet, after the rush of battle and the scramble through darkspawn-infested Crossroads, after the arguing around the table. Davrin could scream just to have something to hear, could burst right out of his skin from the tension of the slow comedown and the total peace of his surroundings. Could. Won’t. His tool roll is laid out on the desk, a fresh block of wood selected before word came of the attack just waiting to become something. Easier than sitting still.
