Pennsylvania is 49th in the nation for public higher education funding! Decades of disinvestment hurt the PA economy— hurt students, families, communities, and workers. It doesn’t have to be this way— and it hasn’t always been this way. We need Governor Josh Shapiro to lead the way!

In March, in the final hours before a strike, management at Community College of Philadelphia agreed to our bargaining for the common good demand for @septaphilly.bsky.social trans passes for all CCP students. They have since failed to honor that agreement.

Yesterday, our union was proud to join public higher ed workers across PA. Our coalition is unprecedented and growing. Community college and PASSHE, and Pitt, Temple and Penn State workers are calling on Harrisburg to fully fund public higher ed. Let’s go from the bottom 10 to the top 10.

Philly showed up as did higher education workers and students across Pennsylvania. From the big cities to the small towns, we focused on the failures of this administration— and in particular how PA Senator McCormick is co-signing attacks on Pennsylvanians.

Yesterday, our members went to one of CCP board chair Epps’ offices at Diversified Search Group (his other office is at Bellevue Strategies) but he wasn’t in.
Still, we delivered a letter urging the board to unfreeze the hiring lines and do right by Philly’s college students.
