they had a “Fred Hampton” flavor that was chocolate and cherry that I think they finally removed from the menu entirely after complaints bc it was in such bad taste but they also still left coffee flavored Che Guevara and chocolate Nelson Mandela up so…!

I think of you often, Luna street food, still being the only institution I’ve ever known that would send me & friends 4 raspberry margaritas in a bag at 3am w/ general tso’s chicken & waffles, tofu wings and poutine to my house. and to think weed wasn’t even legal yet back then

idk like if you want a vampire novel that's actually about patriarchal fears of corrupting female sexuality, carmilla is Literally right there and was written by a different irish guy!

the read of sexual violence in the text is not an anachronism or ahistorical, it is literally racist flagging about the lasciviousness of foreign men 'corrupting' white women. it is white replacement theory lite. you cannot glance past that aspect, it is a fundamental conceit of the novel.

you absolutely cannot -- *cannot!* -- read it as a story primarily about a patriarchal fear of an independent female sexuality when the "sexuality" in question is a trope about white women's sexual exploitation by men from The East. it is stated by Dracula himself outright in the text. explicitly.
