Ershadi’s more recent films have spanned female racing driver drama Lelah; mountain village tale Mahoor and posthumous credit The Hill of Kites. He was also rumored to have been cast in Terrence Malick’s long-awaited The Way of the Wind but this has not been confirmed.

Born on March 26, 1947, in Isfahan, Iran, Ershadi studied architecture at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and worked in the field for decades.
He lived in Vancouver during the 1980s before returning to Iran, where his acting career took off.

His performance in Taste of Cherry launched a late but distinguished career, leading to roles in Iranian cinema and international films.
He appeared in The Kite Runner (2007), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), and A Most Wanted Man (2014), bringing his quiet intensity to global audiences.

In my opinion, everyone should watch The Human Condition Trilogy his most important work and also the best role of his career (to me).

A lifelong stage actor, he founded the Gendai Nohgaku-kai troupe in 1975 and continued performing on stage into his nineties.
He taught and trained promising young actors including Kōji Yakusho, Mayumi Wakamura, Tōru Masuoka, Azusa Watanabe, and Kenichi Takitō, among others.

I couldn't agree more with HYRO when he points out that ''I’ve always thought of Tatsuya Nakadai as the master of controlled intensity —especially after Ran— but in Kobayashi’s Kwaidan, he brought something rarer: charm, quiet ache, and grace within horror. ''

Truly one of the greatest actors in all of cinema, whose bulging eyes could convey obsession, sociopathy, sensuality, operatic intensity—and that’s just in Age of Assassins, one of the best movies he made with Kihachi Okamoto.

An actor who made me fall in love with classic japanese cinema. Such range and emotion, quite simply one of the greatest on screen performers ever.

87 years later, the Kristallnacht pogrom stands out for Jewish communities as a sign of what can come when we are silent in the face of hate and violence.
