Retired Army Intel CW4, now in biotech. AZ transplant. Failed politician. Lots of #milvet retweets, Orioles baseball & occasional cat videos. Married to a much more attractive and talented person.
It never occurred to me that my "betters" in terms of educational and career achievement would have a tougher time seeing right and wrong clearly than the guy who dropped out of college to join the Army. I can't believe I took rocket fire in Afghanistan and they're the ones who are afraid.
Shocked but not surprised to learn how many ~titans of industry~ who probably think of themselves as brave ballsy businessmen are actually cowardly pieces of shit when it counts.

This is so, so bad. We have reached the point of the president's supporters calling other human beings cockroaches.

It is making me lose my mind that evangelical Christians support this.

I've spent more than 2 hours today fighting to get insurance to properly process payments for treatments from two different providers. I STG if more people could wrap their brains around the idea that single payer/universal healthcare would eliminate all this extra hassle, we'd all be better off.

Saw Superman with the wife this evening. Enjoyable. Silly, at times, even a little dorky. Nathan Fillon steals every scene he's in. Krypto the dog was fun too. Overall, adorable and, IMO, a worthy addition to Superman's canon.

The median FBI agent today is a lawyer who joined up to prevent another 9/11.

The median ICE agent tomorrow will be a dude with a high school diploma who watched guys in masks and full tactical snatching and beating day laborers and wants in on the action.

ICE is about to eclipse the FBI as America's most important law enforcement agency. That's bad. Super-duper bad.

There are very valid critiques of Emergency Management plans at every level of government. Why no flood sirens? Why wasn't that camp prepared for a WARNED weather event? Shit we absolutely need to address.

But idiots asking why the NG wasn't there in 5 minutes to evacuate people? Get real.

This might mean something if Republicans actually still believed in something. Too bad they only believe in Trump. And he believes in nothing but money and raw power.
Ronald Reagan spoke of the “the hope that is America” and how it inspired courageous immigrants to come to a foreign land for a better life. Read his Independence Day speech from 1986:
‘A Nation Built on a Universal Claim to Human Dignity’
[In 1986, President Ronald Reagan marked Independence Day on the deck of an airraft carrier in New York Harbor, where he had helped rededicate the Statue of Liberty the day before.

To form a more perfect Union, implies as we all know, that we have something imperfect. But to strive for the betterment of all, and to keep striving no matter what - that is the American legacy. “For that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion.”

We strive still.

Great but sad article from @radiofreetom.bsky.social. No one can deny the courage @queenofthinair.bsky.social is showing here. We can, however, question why not a single senior uniformed leader is displaying even a scintilla of the same moral courage and/or outrage as her, Parsons, or McCarthy.

NGL, late arrival to the Elton John concert from Dodgers Stadium on Disney+ and it absolutely f**ks. He's such an incredible artist, the backing band kills it, and the fans in the stadium are largely adorable.

If you're wondering how the US Bombing Iran/Israel conflict is landing in Gen Z, we have friends with 3 teen boys and they and their peers believe that there will now be a draft. This view seems to be reinforced by the fact that one just turned 18 and has to register for selective service.
