TIL that when an Irishman says his physics teacher "was a brother", they don't mean a black guy.

Did Amy or Kevin from the infamous episode of What's Snots? ever let people know it was them?

Where'd you get your shades?
As safe as a hatter.

Incredible

I am calling upon the people of Ireland to immediately begin construction of a thread on this site about how you or someone you know was roasted for a fashion choice. We need it.

All roasts must have come from Irish people *only*. Please respect this important rule, it makes a difference.

Missing a single dose of venlafaxine sends me into a worse mental state than not being on it at all would.

I wish i could come off it. I did it once before i got cancer but then they made me take tamoxifen for 5 years (known to cause depression) and my then relationship ended so was suicidal.

I do love the fact that I am 45 years old and i was lured outside by being asked "hey do you want to come outside and poke a fire with sticks?"

Fuck yeah I do.

My first "bommy night"

It was a little bit surreal sitting round a small fire in the backyard of my local, chatting and listening to a constant noise of fireworks.

It was very pleasant but also disturbing

Like cosplaying a war zone

Devastated to see Mamdani plummet to victory with a result that shows his critics were right all along. Now is the time for the left to move towards the centre. It's time to reach across the aisle, to swing your partner, do-si-do and really lay into trans people for no reason.

Can we stop pretending to misunderstand the protect women & children crowd, you know exactly what women and children they’re bleating about and they literally do not care about the others

At one of the houses my friend's kid went to tonight, they poured peanuts (in their shells) directly into the kids' hands without letting them know it was going to be peanuts.

This seems like BASIC LEVEL AWARENESS to not just pour known allergens directly onto humans without checking first.

Remember a short comment I made maybe last year to Yann Lecun about how research papers could be faked with LLMs, and he told me no reputable journal would accept it. When I literally showed him a study that executed such a thing, he commented that no reputable journals were named in the study...
the amount of academic research now using llms in research (synthetic data generation, to classify, annotate, or analyse large scale data, etc) is astounding. remember, just cus use of llms in research is becoming normalised does NOT erase the fact it degrades the research & undermine your results

Is it just me that got the ick at all the Heather-ing and Catherine-ing over the past few months?

Is it even fair of me to have the ick about it given I own a Miggledy tshirt?

B’fhéidir nár cheart do pháirtí rialtais bac a chur ar dhaoine dul tríd an chóras atá ann cheana? Is dhá chóras faoi leith iad ainmniúcháin ó Thithe an Oireachtais agus ainmniúcháin ó na Comhairlí Contae dar liom agus níor cheart d’aon pháirtí cur isteach ar phróiseas na gComhairlí.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Oireachtas may have to look at changing the process by which a person gets on the ballot in presidential elections, which he described as "restrictive".

This is pretty much it. The angry vestiges of punitive catholic ireland, the rabbit holed ex hippies, the conspiracy theorists, the terfs, the fascists, and the disenfranchised footsoldiers sold on misinformation and hatred.

A soup that's been brewing for years, thanks to austerity and rw money.
This spoiled vote thing is a Big Flashing Danger sign in the week of racist riots in Ireland - we're stumbling towards a crisis with no leadership or will to tackle misinformation, criminality, intimidation.

And we've seen it coming since the Anti-Vaxx loons started screaming in chemists.

Mamdani talks about New York and New Yorkers the way that Spiderman and Ms Marvel portray them. Diverse, proud and an actual community.

As someone looking in from the outside, that's one of my favourite things about his campaign.

Very sad to see such a low turnout for #aras25, especially when out of towners like me would give their eye teeth to have cast a ballot. I really hope we have votes for citizens in the north and abroad sussed by next time.
