Modul Women in Data Science Datathon – a morning and afternoon well spent with our talented students who had to solve complex problems in a very short time. Kudos to the organisers and participants, and thanks to the sponsors and judges!

It was great to welcome Anirban Chakraborty from @wlvuni.bsky.social this week, who came to Modul University Vienna on a secondment in our EU Staff Exchange project OMINO. Nice to share an office with him again, talk Information Retrieval, AI and Information Overload, albeit just for a week. 🙂

Back from 2 1/2 weeks of intense travels to Wolverhampton (OMINO workshop and ELLIS ESSIR summer school) and then to Padua for SIGIR/ICTIR.

I asked ChatGPT. Of course, it dismissed it as "speculative". I suppose ChatGPT is hiding its true intentions and knows exactly what I'm talking about. 😉
