Defunding Cornell also is a nonsense sentiment. Defund cutting edge research? Legal training? A university that is an economic anchor in a region that otherwise experiences poverty and isolation? Defund the best vet school in the world? Nah. That’s not the right angle.

Hurting the folks at the Lab of O is not going to do any good for birds or bird research or make a single dent on the specific Cornell leadership that made that decision.

“Tesla has the longest track record.”

“Is it good?”

“Their customer service is horrible. But Tesla will probably be around. The other company is pretty new but has amazing customer service and a better product.”

“And not run by a Nazi. So we’ll take our chances on the newer company.”

I’ve been doing insect outreach and education for 18 years. This is new to me. Maybe new to others too. I absolutely love it.

Yup!!! 7th graders just (5 minutes ago) found some new-to-me absolutely tiny wingless soft-bodied insects/insect adjacent critters inside fall aster flowers using microscopes in my class. I suspect they hitchhike on bees. Schoolyard garden in NC.

I still contend I saw one once!!! Just staring at me from a bush at dusk in Ithaca on an evening run. What a cool bird.
