No doubt. It’s like teaching a whole class before you get to “the class”. I’m advocating for more basic literacy support department wide. But in the meantime, I’m just slowing down and essentially co-reading with my students.

I’ve been getting positive results from reverse outlining as my standard reading comprehension assignment. We move slowly, but the kids comprehend a lot more.

I think Elon IS autistic. I think he has said as much. But he’s also awful. As an autistic person I can embrace the idea that another autistic person can be awful. These can be two facts that don’t have to speak to one another. That’s ok.

The current shutdown could spiral in exactly this way. He’s cancelling flights going into the holidays, and he thinks he’s hurting the Democrats, but a plurality of regular people blame him. And he’s rejecting the off-ramps. Moderates might save him. But it’s not clear he’ll let them.
