Today in #Portland I went to the Farmer's Market and bought a box full of vegetables, had a picnic lunch with my partner at Mt Tabor park, bought a fresh loaf of bread at the bakery, and rented blu-rays from Movie Madness. It's a beautiful day and folks are just enjoying the sunshine.

Reached the halfway point of sewing the rows together in my #pathfinder2e Kingmaker quilt project. It's literally as big as my living room. It's kind of a miracle that I'm getting so far using a domestic sewing machine. It's some wrestling but it's working! 7 more rows and borders to go.

This Saturday was the end of our 3-year long Kingmaker campaign. Though a bit rushed due to personal circumstances we still made it to the very end. While our Kingdom didn't span the full length of the map, it did get substantial. This is the Magocracy of Bredenham, the land of second chances.

All my rows are fully joined up. It took hours but it's done. Now I gotta tie all the tails up before I make the seams between rows. It's going to be about a bobbin a row the way this is going. But it's so satisfying seeing the rivers and roads connect on this quilt!

And there is my first row of this quilt joined. This is going to zoom by!

I haven't posted as much of my quilt progress over here, but all 189 hexes for my #pathfinder2e Kingmaker quilt are fully quilted and ready to be stitched together. Heading to my local fabric store for more thread tomorrow morning. This 10ft behemoth will be done soon!

Continuing my #Pathfinder Kingmaker quilt project and let me tell you how satisfying it was to get the majority of Lake Tuskwater in place in this row. And cutting that blue from opposite sides of a single blue hex, fantastic. Can't wait to get the appliques stitched down and quilted up!

Fun Fact: Nobuhiko Obayashi, the director of "House," also directed a film called "The Discarnates" in 1988. This was based on the book "Strangers" by Taichi Yamada. That book was also the basis for Andrew Haigh's film "All of Us Strangers." I just thought that was neat.

So I'm pulling pawns for my Pathfinder Kingmaker campaign and stumbled across the Tax Collector pawn and accidentally read it as "Tax Confessor" which struck me as the most obvious role in the church of Abadar, Lord of the Vault.

While I never get to see as much as I would like, I got to see a ton of wonderful things this year. So, here's 20 of my favorite Horror/Thriller movies from 2024 and a pinch of 2023. The main takeaway is I'm a sucker for big bold visuals and scrappy little indies.

Wearing my frog and toad eating too many cookies shirt and getting ready to bake a monstrous amount of cookies for my friends! I've got Rocky Road Chocolate Bar, Gochujang Caramel, Cardamom Black Pepper & Cognac, Lemon Turmeric, and Cornmeal Honey Butter on the baking agenda.

A propos of Dracula loving sluts, this was my loving homage to the ancient Greek coded vampire bride in Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula.

I started listening to Dayspring by Anthony Oliveira yesterday. I'm halfway through it now and it is pure ecstasy. A queer, erotic, poetic, post-modern gospel from the POV of John the Beloved is kind of exactly what I needed right now. Breathtaking.

Test pieces for the Kingmaker Hex Map Quilt are coming along nicely. Been trying out some different techniques before diving head first into the entire project. Played with 4.5 vs 5" hexes, border trim sizes, Y-seams, couching embroidery threads, and free motion quilting. These are my samples.

I've had this idea of making an overland hex map quilt based on the Kingmaker map. Yesterday I bit the bullet and bought all the material I think I would need to pull it off. I've got a neutral grey hex fabric for the backing and other colors for plains, water, forest, hills, swamps, and mountains.

I've been painting minis this week for my Kingmaker campaign. Got a Shambler and a Flame Drake being hunted down by the PCs this weekend. I've also decided to try out making the mass combat actually a mass miniatures game so I removed the sigil from the infantry shields to add new heraldry.

Went to the Vinegar Syndrome pop-up at Movie Madness Sunday and snagged some absolute bangers. Cynthia Rothrock fan for life.

Last night I finished reading Uzumaki by Junji Ito. I wasn't aware going in that the stories were so interconnected. Once that kicked in, the dread of each subsequent chapter just grew and grew. The finale is one of the most incredible cosmic horror moments I've probably ever read.
