All these cheap horror films arbitrarily starring public domain cartoon characters, and yet nobody's doing one for Felix the Cat.

I'm hoping that if this is a sign of anything, it's just promo art for a Nitro-Fueled PS5/Switch 2/PC port, because there's no way they would redesign, remodel and reanimate the ~80% of the cast (and all their costumes) who weren't in 4 or Rumble just so they could integrate the IAT designs into it.

If this isn't a meme format already, it should be. You can do this with so many games.

Gex has always occupied this nebulous space where he's not as popular or respected as Crash or Spyro, or even Rayman, but he's still above the likes of Bubsy. I can't really think of any other characters like him.

Plus I don't think you'd need to change the tone to grow with the audience anyway. Crash was never particularly "kiddy".
