Today I would like to talk to you about the Kingfisher. Here, a young one, first day of flight.
When they dive, they flatten their wings, then once in the water they open them to create an air bubble to take support on and get out of the water.

I've been so lucky to have been there to see it. 😊

🪶 Aujourd'hui j'aimerais vous parler du Martin-Pêcheur. Ici, un jeune, premier jour de vol.

Quand ils plongent, ils plaquent leurs ailes, puis une fois dans l'eau les ouvrent afin de créer une bulle d'air pour prendre appui dessus et sortir de l'eau 🫧

A bird that I've seen on east France and definitely a very rare one to see there. Usually never coming down this way, might have follow the rivers to cut through France following Rhin, Saone and then maybe the Rhone idk ... Happy I was there :}

Here a young kingfisher the first day out of the nest, a Great Crested Grebe during sunset, a rare Dipper feeding his chicks under a very old French bridge and a rare Curlew Sandpiper during migration.
