Wrote up the patch notes for the Towerbound Halloween update - it’s a big one. Should be out this week!

Almost done with work on the Fortress-magic deck for the big update. Now you can shoot arrows, which is tricky, but converting them to homing arrows is fun.

Also converting bombs to cherry-bombs (max 1 damage), but always spawns 3 additional cherry-bombs is pretty wild looking.

Trick or treat - some enemies are wearing masks during Halloween season!

Now I really have to get this Towebound update out before Halloween.

Started in earnest on the third type of Towerbound magic today. It's Coral magic!

Now you can place these coral polyps, which each night spawn new coral shelf blocks on your tower. This can lead to surprising big and fragile tower designs.

Look, there's even an indicator! Really needed to study draw_arc to make this happen, kept messing up my unit circle.

Big Towerbound breakthrough over here, now directional seeming blocks that shoot things are indeed directional. Right facing ones to the right, left ones, shockingly to the left.

Towerbound shops are functional now! Save your money and buy new cards and artifacts!

Also all cards have rarities and a spellbook type. The spellbook type will work sort of the factions in Monster Train where you get a major and minor and use that to help define your strategy.

Been plugging away at adding shops to Towerbound for way too long now, but I drew a shopkeeper animation, so things are looking up.

Also, now I get to be a cozy/wholesome game right??

Hey #PitchYaRogue

I'm making Towerbound freezebeam.itch.io/towerbound

It's a coffee-break length roguelike deck builder, where you cast spells to build wizard towers in the day and defend them from tower defense waves at night.

Added some coins to Towerbound now with a nice little ding sound. Shopping is up next...

Now I will no longer cross my fingers whenever I see someone interact with one of the deck viewer panels.

At this point I ended up with a method in my deck viewer that would load the cards by reference, and one that would literally copy the cards over. Things were getting bad and the warnings were growing.

But all bugs were fixed now and rewards were working.
September 11, 2025 at 2:17 AM
So far back in action, but I'm getting lots of warnings for some reason. I think I didn't @export_storage enough properties, but things were functional.

Then I added rewards. Some rewards let you add cards to your deck and some remove cards.

I wanted reuse the same deck viewer to save time.
September 11, 2025 at 2:14 AM
But duplicating in godot is weird! @export_storage was my friend now:

But then I realized you'd want a way to see your whole deck maybe, so if you no longer had the card in your deck, that was no good. So instead, when you loaded your deck, I made a copy of it into a draw pile and another into "all_cards".
September 11, 2025 at 2:09 AM
When you play a card in the level, I reparent the block into the level and free the card.
