I yell a lot about books. Reading is inherently political.

Dismantling my internalized biases to be an overall better person. Pro human rights, BLM, 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ ally, feminist.

This was an unexpected fun read. It’s got family mysteries, magic, and multiple timelines…

If you want a historical romantic mystery this is worth the read.

Blood Feast by Malika Moustadraf - a collection of vignettes that illustrate life in Casablanca. I loved this. I’m so sad that the author passed in 2006 as I would have loved to read more of her work.

First time reading this modern classic and good lord. This was not the best choice for my morning commute. Nothing says Monday like showing up to work with puffy cry face.

I was very impressed with this book. This was an interesting way to spin a real life horror into a supernatural horror. The narration was top notch.

A feminist spin on how a classic came to be.

If you enjoy:
-immigrant stories
- Salem MA
-independent women
-shitty boyfriends

Pick up this book.

Available August 12 2025!

Hailey Piper nailed it with this book. It’s the sapphic cursed media story that I’ve been begging for.

This book ends with tears. This was a gut punch. I need a cozy murder mystery to bring this week back to a positive note.

Bessem is searching for her lost love, Fatima, while hiding her true self from the world that will destroy her.

Holy shit. I did not expect this book to bring me to tears.

Follow Saba as she does whatever it is she needs to survive a refugee camp as a young woman.

Stunning.

Coming July 29th!!

This book was incredibly interesting. I was all in on this one, until the very end. Things really went off the rails there and it was a bit much for me, but overall very good.

The Burning Heart of the World
By Nancy Kricorian

First things first, this cover is STUNNING!

Follow a Beirut Armenian family through the Lebanese Civil War into the aftermath of 9/11.

It’s intense and heartbreaking, but it’s so beautifully written, I can’t help but recommend this.

This reads like Jeffrey Dahmer/ Dennis Nilsen shipping fan fiction.

The jumping from first to third person mid paragraph while also jumping POVs. The timeline is disorienting.

Overall, not a fan.

March was such a shit show I almost don't want to wrap it.

Two more countries down in my #readtheworld challenge. Poland and Lebanon. I also started Denmark but that'll be in my April wrap.
