No parking is allowed on public streets nor in turnarounds during winter storm events – please keep streets and turnarounds clear of vehicles (including trailers, campers, etc.) during a storm.

Recent rains have moved most of the state out of extreme drought conditions, but Freeport is among the 3% of Maine still experiencing extreme drought. Water conservation & fire safety need to continue as a top priority in our community as we ride out these conditions. Thank you for doing your part.

Police & Public Works have been fielding a lot of calls about the traffic at the bridge on Mallett Drive, particularly about the length of red traffic lights.

You may notice SHARE THE ROAD signs popping up around town, on popular bike routes & roads with shoulders, part of an initiative to increase awareness about road safety, because everyone - from drivers to cyclists to pedestrians - has a duty to obey traffic laws & keep themselves & others safe.
Signs and signals are there to protect everybody. Pedestrians must obey signs and signals - If there isn’t a sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from vehicles as possible. - Always cross streets at crosswalks when they are available; drivers know to look for you there. - If there isn’t a crosswalk, cross at a well-lit place, where drivers can best see you. Bicyclists must obey signs and signals too - Ride defensively, assuming others cannot see you. - Don’t let yourself be distracted by music, electronic devices, or anything else that takes your focus off the road. - Always ride with traffic, use bike lanes when available and avoid riding on sidewalks when possible. Share the road!

- November federal SNAP benefits cannot be issued until the federal shutdown ends or new guidance is provided by FNS.
- At this time, SNAP benefits already loaded onto EBT cards remain available for use to purchase food.

IMPORTANT UPDATE If you get SNAP EBT food assistance in Maine Due to the federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) notified Maine that November SNAP benefits will not be issued at this time.
