I’ve been helping my kid out with her gemstone/dropper art (not sure exactly what it’s called, seen different versions) and it’s surprisingly meditative. If a grown-up set with Lord of the Rings/Malazan/Stormlight style fantasy art doesn’t exist then it’d a real gap in the market!

I went looking for it because I loved Pratchett’s The Night Watch, the cover of which is based of it. I had no idea it would be so big, though, taking up the far wall of a long room. Spent ages studying it, something I’m not prone to do with most paintings - so many interesting characters.

My reading fell off a cliff after my kid was born, but I’m feeling like I’m about able to get back into it. Hopefully it will also encourage me to spend less time doomscrolling. Winds of Truth soon, but before that, as a warm-up, finally giving John Gwynne a go starting with The Shadow of the Gods.
