X/Twitter Refugee. Wildlife lover and paleo nerd. Enjoys the sight of birds.
This morning, I saw all four goshawks gathering together on the tree where their nest is located. There, they began chanting to each other. It was a beautiful thing to see. I wonder what they were talking about in the morning.

Herps out there, I need help identifying a #lizard. My brother who works on a farm sent me this video, and this screenshot you're seeing is the best way you can see the lizard. It looks like an agamid, but I'm not sure.

It's lovely when you have neighbours who sing every morning.

There's something beautiful about a wetland covered in a blanket of fog.

I caught a Yanma pokémon!
Actually, it's just a normal but really cool dragon. These small living helicopters can move in any direction when their in the air, beating their wings around 30 times per second. This one was safely released outdoors.

Shut the front door!

Last night, I found the biggest Strongylopus grayii I've ever seen.

I had to take a quick shot of it because my cousin was keeping the cat from getting out of the front door. So, yeah. Pun intended. 🐸

A new paper has reassessed the size and body shape of Otodus megalodon!

That's a crazy huge fish.

Someone should create a pokedex for birds. I want to walk around and point my birdex to a species to identify it for me.

It appears baleen whales have developed a new method of communicating without giving themselves away to predators. Orcas struggle to pick up sounds lower than 100 hertz and baleen whales have learned to use ultra-low frequency sounds that makes it difficult for them to be tracked by predators.

Forgive me Paleo/Jurassic community but I'm just not that excited for Rebirth. Maybe I'm just tired of the franchise, I don't know. On the other hand, I'm super excited for Fantastic Four: First Steps. Everything from what I've seen in the first trailer looks, well, fantastic!

Yesterday, I received the most adorable gift from WWF. A Cape Penguin with a lovely Thank You card for donating to this little bird. This penguin species has been through a lot before they became one of the most endangered bird species in the world. These little guys need our help and conservation.

Besides the terror bird, which you can obviously see is just a skeleton. The glyptodont, on the other hand. What you see is the closest to what the animal looked like when it was alive.
Just realized: the hooked bill tip of a terror bird would actually be a pretty decent tool for nipping and tearing at any exposed (but limited in surface area) body parts of a glyptodont.

Some shore-dwelling pterosaurs, such as Pterodactylus, Diopecephalus, and Aurorazhdarcho had webbed feet, as some well-preserved specimens demonstrate. Which is interesting, since these toes may not have been able to splay out very far.

So, load shedding is back in South Africa. Last night it hit us at 10PM, just when I was going to sleep anyway.

And just when we got used to living without it, it's back.
