i still think it's a matter of time before people start putting up with it. just look at history. people didn't want to put up with seatbelts but here we are. when (not if) the data becomes unambiguous that self-driven cars are safer, we'll see a change in policy & behavior (govt, insurance, ind).

Not sure about this. ATC is necessary bcs there's not enough technology in planes to successfully manage so many in the air at once (and there are human pilots). There's no reason not to expect AI-powered self-driving cars to be better than human drivers in virtually any scenario in a matter of time
