#OTD 1981 – Meadowdale wins 1st WIAA girls' state championship over previously unbeaten Hazen at Auburn. Chiefs, who took 3rd in Wesco, come from behind in regulation on two Linda DeBoer goals, then prevail on penalties, 2-2 (4-3).

#OTD 1986 – Tacoma native Brent Goulet scores 107th goal of his career, a collegiate record, in Warner Pacific College’s 3-0 win over Pacific (Ore.). Goulet surpasses the 106 of Erskine’s Sam McGinty, set in 1970. He finishes with 108.

#OTD 1982 – Hazen rides late goal from Cissy Shopshire to win girls' WIAA state championship, 1-0 over Shorecrest, at Auburn's Troy Field. Shopshire scores from 10 yards at 64'. It's first loss of year for Scots (15-1-1). Hazen had won 2 unofficial state titles in '79 & '80.

#OTD 2009 – It was a safe bet a Sounder would win MLS Newcomer of the Year. Seattle’s Fredy Montero indeed does, after scoring 12 goals in inaugural season. Montero’s teammates, Freddie Ljungberg & Kasey Keller were other finalists for award.
