Thanks to all the co-authors. Also thanks to the @ukri.org funded DRUID, ChemPop, #agzeroplus projects and to the EU Horizon PARC project for funding the work.
Our analysis identifies risks at country scale, for finer spatial analysis (e.g. to infer local #biodiversity impacts) more resolved crops and pesticides usage data are needed. Check out the Land Cover plus: Fertilisers and Pesticides map www.ceh.ac.uk/data/ukceh-l... for a fine resolution example.
UKCEH Land Cover plus: Fertilisers and Pesticides
By combining information on cropping patterns from UKCEH Land Cover® plus: Crops with national survey data on pesticide and fertiliser use, the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology has created two data p...

Insecticides are the major contributors to risks for #insects; #insecticides, #fungicides and #herbicides are all important for springtails and earthworms.
We show that between 1994 and 2016 risk from #pesticides decreased for springtails, lacewings and wasps while increasing for #bees and earthworms.
A paper in Environment International led by me and Melanie Gibbs and a team of @ukceh.bsky.social scientists provides spatio-temporal maps of the risks of #pesticides to terrestrial #invertebrates. doi.org/10.1016/j.en...

Still a couple of weeks left to apply for this #PhD. How are pollinating #insects changing in the UK? This project will develop indicators for #pollinators using #citizenscience data. A collaboration between @ukceh.bsky.social, University of Reading and JNCC. tinyurl.com/3ve5szrh

How effective are efforts to stop the yellow-legged (Asian) hornet? Despite the UK’s suitable climate and habitat, rapid action has prevented establishment.

A new study models its spread in invaded regions to predict spread elsewhere without intervention.
