“Kensington Market will do what it always does and adapt”

Good one to watch with the Toronto crowd, the evening ending on a unexpectedly optimistic tone.

I was reminded yesterday by @martinreis.bsky.social about this beautiful work he created on the former West Island, Ontario Place in Dec 2023.

Fallen leaves cut into heart shapes, pressed in books, sewn with red and green cotton thread, words added with a manual typewriter.

“Leaf me be”

Thinking of this landscape and all of the time spent on the (former) West Island of Ontario Place, November 2023.

As you reach the end of Strachan Avenue, cross over Lake Shore Blvd, and veer off the Martin Goodman trail to the left - this wee stretch at the edge of Coronation Park always feels to me like a tree-lined gateway to the lakeshore. Trillium Park and the islands on the horizon lie ahead.

At the closing ceremony for the first day of the Good Mourning Festival, with Emily Pleasance of Forest Bathing Club.

Those rocks are from the West Island pebble beach - it was dedicated to the loss of Ontario Place.
