Fursona again.

This time with clothes!

Oddly, now that I *can* maintain focus for a while, I'm finding my problem to be that I need to learn how to go more slowly.

For approximately the 400th time:

My name is Tara.

Not Tera. Not Terra.

T. A. R. A.

My name is tied to my heritage. That is important to me.

Your constant misspelling of it is not cute. It is not a meme. You are just a dick.

I expect people who have used their industry status to hurt other people to go the fuck away

Yet it seems to be a constant cycle of "hasn't the person who hurt people suffered enough? what more do you want?"

I want them to show actual fucking remorse, not fulfil a checklist of duties they made up.
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

The biggest thing I miss from the internet of yore is that it really was a series of communities. I don’t feel like we have that any more, and as someone seeking this out, it’s a lot of friction to find the hidden corners where this is still the case.
the 'clubs' they mentioned are a thing that just does NOT exist anymore. I honestly think that's the biggest hole

like, clubs, or lj comms, or single-interest forums just do not exist. Today you toss fanart/discussion onto an open sea and pray other fans will see it and engage, and if not, too bad

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

Teen Vogue did some terrific work. Great story here on Teen Vogue and how the Vogue/Conde Nast bosses seem like the "liberal" types who have been eager to use Trump's rise as a pretext to silence progressives/leftists they disagree with. www.cjr.org/feature/the-...
What the closure of Teen Vogue means for journalism.
Condé Nast folded a beloved magazine that treated youth and feminism as political topics, not trends.

I am still amazed at how thick Republicans are that Democratic voters really, *really* do not like the Clintons.

They're establishment-popular, not actually popular.

"You come for Trump we'll come for Clinton!" they say, ignoring the constant stream of memes and jeering over Bill.

To sum up this thread, given recent events in the Chicagoland area due to ICE activity, for the safety of all attendees, especially international attendees, I am calling on @furfest.org to ban tactical gear & modern police/military costumes from the con space

That is the least I can ask from MFF
Furries, we need to talk about something very important. With Midwest FurFest just a month away, we need to address the elephant in the room

For the past few months, ICE, Border Patrol, & other federal agents have been storming throughout the Chicago area, where MFF is located (1/5)
new: federal agents have targeted rideshare drivers at o'hare on at least ten separate days since october 10.

in some cases, agents returned to abduct drivers multiple times in a single day, taking as many as ten to 20 people each time.

The Law doesn't *prevent* somebody from doing something. It only provides a mechanism for punishing someone for something they've *already done*. But when you've got someone who clearly is in a position to *not be punished*, well then they can just do whatever the hell they want.
This week I had someone tell me they're not worried about SNAP being cut off because "that's illegal, so it's impossible Trump could do that, so obviously it's just media sensationalism." Another person told me they weren't worried about ICE because "they can't detain you if you're legally here."

They are afraid of Kat because she stands for what most Americans want and believe. That's why they indicted her for protesting outside an ICE facility.

But like you, she is not afraid. There are more of us than there are of them. She is going to win. She is going to make a better future possible.

Make no mistake about it: This administration is trying to take away your ability to protest their new secret police force and even stand next to those who do so, and they are abusing the legal system to do so.

Kat is not afraid. I'm not either. We all have to stand together here. We will win.

The Department of Justice misspells Kat's name several times in several ways throughout this indictment.

She is being charged with protesting outside of an ICE detention center, and the indictment dropped just days after she released an ad campaign showing the horrors of ICE detention.

Kat is being federally charged by the FBI for protesting at Broadview.

This is a flagrant political prosecution by the Trump administration, which is trying to prevent free speech and free association.

I am proud of Kat. Her movement is being targeted by the government. She needs your support.
I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.
