Seriously, it's been on our reference/resource list for Lex and I ;p But yes. It's also great as an adjunct to reading @jolyonbt.bsky.social Faking Liberties (specifically, the intermingling of politics/governance and religion; and what 'freedom of religion' can mean, the Shinto Directive, etc)

I am curious. I'm not in academia (haven't been since my second MA), but I do panels and presentations on media analysis among other things. I'm wondering if this book would be useful, or is the audience assumed to be professional academics?

As someone who is only used to the german university system, I don't get how "You need to actually cite sources and do some basic evidence backed arguing" is not a default standard assumed even if not put into writing. Also I agree, the goal of that shitty essay was to get something against the TA

As silly as it is, I quite enjoyed the King Arthur: Legend of the Sword film (Guy Ritchie directing). Also it can spark conversations of what is canon anyway, the different versions, and characters you don't tend to see (Vortigern!)

There's at least one book on fantasy mapmaking/cartography (meant for things like novels and tabletop gaming, etc). But THAT might be fun, depending on the kid.

And if it were ANYONE besides a Christian that pulled this, it would never have flown. Imagine if a Muslim student tried citing Quran passages as historical or empirical evidence; they'd never go to bat for them.

To say nothing of the ridiculous precedent this sets. By this logic, we Jews could simply refuse to do any assignments due on Friday nights and then accuse the professors of antisemitism and religious discrimination for having deadlines on those dates (for everyone).
