The funding will be used to convert the facility from a chlorine disinfection system to a safer sodium hypochlorite system.

Chlorine gas is acutely toxic and the accidental release of the gas at a treatment plant could place staff and local neighborhoods in danger within minutes. (2/3)

@bobbyscott.house.gov, @mcclellan.house.gov and I wrote to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission demanding an environmental report or termination of these projects to protect our communities. (2/2)

Earlier this year, Trump froze a record grant for NC to build the Raleigh-Richmond S-Line.

I'm grateful that NCDOT has pushed on, but this Administration's political games do nothing to help push transit forward. This funding must be restored immediately. (2/2)
