Since 2024 I've seen jobs on sites like Indeed listed as "librarian" but are just $20 p/hr AI training jobs. They all require a BA (which is both unnecessary for data training and also not an MLIS which is actually required for a librarian job).
I'm starting to see jobs out there for 'humanties experts' to train AI systems. I know we all need work, but don't do it.

and the part that hurt the most was fighting to keep my job!
Workers should be able to receive treatment for cancer or a chronic illness without the threat of losing their health insurance or their job. That's one reason @columbuslibrary.bsky.social workers are coming together to form their union!

If folder organization is important to you, you can put your entire Spotify over to Tidal for $5 and, again, they pay their artists way more per track
I'm using Qobuz (and sometimes Apple Music) and it's very easy to port over and Qobuz pays artists more per track

This would ban ANY state from making laws to regulate the use of genAI for TEN YEARS. That includes deepfakes for malicious purposes like misinformation or revenge. Please call your reps throughout this week to urge them to fight this. Get four other people you know to do the same. FIGHT THIS.
Good lord just what the hell is up today. A potential ban on any regulation for AI for the next 10 years? This includes good bills like AB 412 of legislation protecting folks from Deepfakes! Wtf?! Call your congressmen and women asap to tell them to take this down!

🚨 BOOM: In a move designed to increase opportunity for people experiencing homelessness, Spokane has become the first city in the entire country to ban employers from asking for an applicant’s permanent address.
Navarrete also called Hulings comments "nasty," and said that's part of the discriminatory conduct they're trying to avoid. Wilkerson chimed in that she's "proud to be in a city that recognizes everyone," even though they have a long way to go. It passed 6-1, with Bingle voting no.

I am begging my fellow librarians to just stop. Stop it. ChatGPT isn't our friend, it is making you worse at your job, and patrons are going to lose faith in us if this doesn't stop.
And now I am at the library and I went to the front desk to get some help looking up a very specific list of books and she just... pulled up... ChatGPT?!!??

a) I could have done that myself if it wasn't my enemy and
