As said, it was a popular song and the adapted lyrics are about our ground. Not much to understand really. It’s only in the past decade it’s been played over the tannoy pre-match. Before that, it was just something we’d sing occasionally

It was just adopted and adapted back when the song was out (or at least way back). The City Ground is on the banks of the Trent and it does get misty
