If anything it sounds like that was the final straw. Seems to me that it’s more about the principle of what happened, since it was also said there were positive internal talks about the move and then it was pulled without his knowledge/input.

It’s also to deter this shit from happening in the future. Might make clubs slightly more wary of poaching our best assets if they know it’s gonna be a massive headache to do it on the sly/potentially get caught.
