Where would you put upper diffluence in your ingredient list? I liken it to a chimney in a fireplace. Sure you can start a fire without it, but unless you vent the smoke and bring in fresh air, the fire will go out. This can be the difference in pulse convection and a sustainable tropical cyclone.
