We had a fantastic Halloween, with hundreds of kids rolling through the neighborhood. Ann and most of the kids dressed up and handed out candy while I made pizzas for dinner It rained a little at the start of the evening, just enough to give us a double rainbow over the house for a moment.

I'm sad to hear that the amazing Pete Knifton has died. Pete was a wonderful artist who worked for Games Workshop back in the day. He lent his wonderful style to the Blood Bowl rulebooks — including the Blood Bowl Companion I developed back in 1990.

My stepmother Nancy, stepbrother Dan, and I visited the Beloit Boys & Girls Club to see the plaque they put up in my dad's honor. He served on the board there for decades and devoted a great deal of time to help make it a haven for kids throughout the city.

I'm gutted to hear of the death of Daniel Estes, son of Rose Estes (creator of the Endless Quest books and wonderful writer). I met Daniel and his mother at Gen Con 2024, and they were both absolutely delightful and clearly devoted to each other although they lived in thousands of miles apart.

I just put this M4 Mac mini up on eBay. I bought it last November, and in the spring I decided I needed a laptop instead. (And I'm finally getting ground to selling this one now.) It's factory reset and in mint condition, complete with a carrying case. Go check it out!

Gamers! My pals at Posthuman Studios just launched a Kickstarter for SCUM, a new Eclipse Phase boardgame designed by my friend Davidson Cole. They were kind enough to get me an advance copy to play, and we had a great time with it! (See the photo for the blurb I gave them.)

Congrats to my pal Richard Dansky on the release of his brand-new book, THE VIDEO GAME WRITER'S GUIDE TO SURVIVING AN INDUSTRY THAT HATES YOU. I'm reading it right now, and this is the exact book I wish I'd had when I was starting out writing for video games.
Happy to report that my son Ken moved way north this past weekend to start his studies as a graduate naturalist at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center. We'll miss him for sure, but he's truly in his element up there.
