TL:DR - Don't use 3rd party apps/extensions like Twitch Lurker or have more than 3 streams open or Twitch won't count you as a viewer.
I noticed a while back that if I open more than 3 streams at once I don't gain channel points in any channels after the first 3 so I only have 3 open at a time now.
