Because of course. Our nothing response on Friday guaranteed they would do it again. Russia will not stop until we stop them.

Tempting to think this is madly over the top. It isn't. Putin's ambitions aren't limited to Ukraine. He has militarised Russian society & economy in a way that's difficult to reverse quickly. So, as Macron & Merz have recently recognised, once Ukraine is dealt with, another country will be next.

Autocratic populism produces poverty and decline
💥Viktor Orbán’s demographic strategy is a disaster. Over the past decade, 37.8% of Hungary’s population decline was due to emigration to other EU countries. Hungary is losing the competition to retain its own citizens while birth rates tank. Read Direkt36's in-depth article on @vsquare.bsky.social👇

It's not hard to imagine a scenario where migrant workers in the US are detained in ICE raids, thrown into Trump's migrant camps, then are sent off to work at the same farms and orchards they were originally picked up from, with the state taking what would have been their wage.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Never forget that Nancy Wake:
- Has whakapapa to Tainui.
- Killed an SS sentry with HER BARE HANDS.
- Cycled 500 kilometres in 72 hours through occupied France to deliver codes to the resistance.
Very early #OnThisDay, 30 April 1944, New Zealander Nancy Wake parachutes into occupied France to be a courier for the Special Operations Executive.

Nick-named 'the white mouse' by the Gestapo, she is never captured.

She died in 2011.
