Doubling down on a design decision is a powerful tool in your designer toolbelt. If playtesters don't like something that doesn't always mean removing or changing it. Sometimes it means you add *more* of it.

Pathfinder managed to make the In Universe Distinction between a Wizard and a Bard very clear in a way I enjoy. Like its pretty easy to just say without even needing a thread.

So this is probably my spiciest general take but:
I am not huge on ttrpgs that don’t let you play a charecter that is better at doing something than you.
As someone who loves playing social characters but has generalized anxiety disorder, I want to play the game not play my gm please.

Thinking about example/iconic characters in ttrpgs who manage to get their own presence in the fandom.
The closest example to my heart being the Glass Makers Dragon Crew in Chuubo’s Marvelous Wish Granting Engine, but Pathfinder and even Exalted have named example characters people think about

My most problematic brag is that I never liked Harry Potter and I was instead into The Magisterium Series as a kid, which like, isn't even that great because I recall Cassandra Clare got into some like, Plagiarism stuff, which is bad, but its not as bad as being the face for a hate movement.
