More essential reading from Liam.

While Clarkson leads protests against the rich paying even a fraction of their fair share, the most vulnerable have almost nobody speaking up for them.
On the streets of Liverpool, there is a humanitarian crisis

A perfect storm of problems means more and more people are finding themselves homeless & sleeping rough & it’s getting worse - it’s a situation playing out across the country

A difficult 🧵 on what I’ve found reporting on this situation

So sad, that this young woman was dismissed by medics …

The GP said I was too young to have breast cancer at 36. He was wrong

She was dismissed by a GP at first, but Nina Lopes has battled for six years with an aggressive, incurable disease — triple-negative metastatic breast cancer

I still don’t understand why Labour is cutting the winter fuel payments back in this stark manner

No problem at all with wealthy pensioners (I’m almost at that age now) who don’t need it not receiving it obviously

But for only those on Pension Credit to receive it .. is wrong
NEW: Tens of thousands of pensioners are expected to be driven into poverty by cuts to winter fuel payments, according to forecasts by DWP published today

The figures do not factor in the increased uptake of the pension credit benefit

By me, for the Big Issue www.bigissue.com/news/social-...

This is awful & heartbreaking. Schoolchildren from struggling families have pretended to eat out of empty lunchboxes to save their embarrassment at having no food.

Ending child poverty must be a priority for the Government

Brexit means... ruined opportunities in the international arena. No good complaining about it - it's just hard cheese, unless and until we rejoin the EU.

Thoughts and prayers for our American friends.
I was born in 1959. Privileged to be vaccinated, for free, against smallpox, polio, TB, diphtheria, tetanus & whooping cough as a child, then later against measles, mumps, rabies, typhoid, viral encephalitis, viral hepatitis and more. My pal at school wore calipers. ALL THESE DISEASES COULD RETURN.

Please if you are a Twitter connection and see this post, wave at me here as I’m struggling to find people who’ve told me on the hell site that they’ve also followed me here. I’m not being rude!

I am winding down Twitter with a view to being free of it and deleting the app by the end of the year.

Musk now has his hands on US govt

Federal employees are required to disclose their assets to ward off any potential conflicts of interest, and to divest significant holdings relating to their work.

Musk will NOT be a formal federal worker so he won't face those ethical limitations.
