I love sewing, knitting and crochet. I also sing with my singer/songwriter husband. We live in a small town on the shores of the North Sea.

Burgoyne Surrounded, another scrap quilt that I work on as and when I’ve cut a pile of scraps up.

This week I’ve been working on 5” blocks each composed of 50, 1” triangles. I added 3 blocks this week, that’s 150 little triangles - I may have lost the plot!

There’s a box of 1” triangles sitting on the side in the kitchen and they get pieced together, one light, one dark, as and when I get a couple of minutes. Well, I decided to put some together…

I’ve been a bit quiet lately pattern testing and getting this centre piece done. I was trying to piece it on the machine but I wasn’t happy with the accuracy, there is only so much trimming and squaring up that you can do before it looks completely wrong! This is pieced by hand.

It must be autumn, he asked me to put a quilt on the bed.

The trellis is complete, now to quilt the infills.

Peaceful stitching in the quiet of the day.

It’s a quilting sort of day today, just quiet, peaceful stitching.

Enjoy your day.

Early morning stitching in the cool of the day.

As you may have discovered, I don’t like waste so when I’ve finished a project I use up the leftovers. Early this morning, in the cool of the day, I moved some boxes and came across this lot. I am not enamoured with Etsy, so, over the weekend I intend to add items to my new Folksy shop, Toadflax.

I found a half started project whilst tidying up a cupboard. I think I will continue with it, just squares to make little 4 patch blocks.

My insectivorous plants are loving the sunshine.

It’s a crochet day today while I continue to rest my bruised and battered leg and arm after going base over apex on Friday evening and landing in an undignified heap on the pavement. I felt such a fool!

There are days when watching a large container ship being turned by 3 small tugs is just wonderful. She was docking in Felixstowe.

The boxes are being moved! We will have space to live in and space to sort out and deal with what is in the boxes.

Some stuff has already gone to the charity shop and rubbish has been taken to the tip. Here’s hoping we can keep up the momentum.

Sun is shining, all is peaceful, just right for some quiet stitching time. A little hand quilting to soothe the soul and ease the mind. Happy Tuesday.

Took a bit of time away from the sewing to do a bit of crochet. Using my hands in different ways seems to help keep them supple. Probably no scientific reasoning behind this but it works for my hands.

Sometimes you just have to sit and sew while chaos exists around you. I added 3 rows of 1” squares to the right hand side this morning, just sitting, stitching while the rain pattered down on the roof.

Now, the sun is shining, I think I may go for a walk.

Start of a new quilt. Upcycling this lot into a child’s quilt.

Packed up two blankets and 37 hats ready to send to the mission for the homeless. All made from upcycled yarn.

First finish of the year! Upcycled fabrics and recycled wadding. Quilt 2501 - until, or even if, I come up with a name for it.

I started making some of these blocks last year using old shirts. I think I should make a few more, there’s this lovely shirt that I found and it would make a wonderful vase…

A look back a year or so, a tiny quilt for a doll’s house. Hand pieced and quilted, it has a top, middle and bottom layer just like a full sized quilt.
I really like making these miniature quilts.

The binding is attached, now to slip it down on the back. I think I’m winning.

Yesterday was a day without sewing because life got in the way, it demanded that I deal with the necessary, everyday items that make life liveable. I got them done and also found time to crochet a simple beanie while watching the France-Wales match in the Six Nations Tournament.
