A mansion tax isn't how you hit the wealthy - who have a small proportion of their wealth tied up in housing. A mansion tax is how you hit the middle classes - whose only valuable asset is their house.

More cowardice from Labour: afraid to go where the real money is, to go after the super rich.

In a country that imposes a de facto 9% tax on graduates earning the average wage, the case against a 2% tax on multimillionaires looks remarkably weak

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

Donald Trump and his lapdog Republicans just shut down the federal government after refusing to protect Americans from an imminent spike in health insurance costs.

This is what the GOP stands for.

Dear @apnews.com

The republicans control congress. Democrats did not vote down anything. If the GOP wanted to fund the government, they could have changed the rules to pass a CR with a simple majority like they did 11 days ago to approve 48 trump appointees at once.

Fix your headline.

If I was an allegedly centrist Prime Minister of the UK who is facing being wiped out by fascists in a few years, I probably wouldn’t be building them infrastructure with which they can track & surveil citizens.

But that’s probably just me.

White House is considering a National Day of Memorial if Donald Trump dies.

Sources say, "Well everyone is going to take the day off and party, so we have to make it look like they are mourning."

Jordy Meiselas: When Trump now calls it the "Epstein Hoax," it's not just him protecting himself and his buddies involved. It's a slap in the face to every single child that was victimized that was by Jeffrey Epstein and his entire circle

Isn’t this exactly what Ed Davey was complaining about? The BBC keeps reporting REFUK tittle-tattle with no challenge on policies.

He's clearly a wannabe Trump
'If he was king' is very revealing, in that he does not see himself as PM. He does not see himself governing the country, he sees himself ruling it with no opposition.

When a network lays off one of America’s greatest satirists, it’s not because he failed. It’s because he succeeded too loudly.
