Is a 4 year degree worth putting the work into or would chasing certificates be sufficient? I know a degree goes a long way but with the news revolving around student loans, I'd rather avoid if I can

Yeah, I'm aware the industry is quite abysmal here in the US. At the very least I'd like to learn and have the skills needed to make it a career or even apply it to my current career (morph it into an engineering type deal)
