I stopped by Status Skateshop in Carlsbad and it was awesome. I was able to try a bunch of setups and with so much help I built a surfskate that rides so much better. The bigger wheelbase widens the natural arc of the turns, giving me more time to press into generating speed. It’s all very cool.

I have been quoting this comic out loud for no particular reason for 20 years. It is by @drewtoothpaste.bsky.social and it is one of my all time favorites

This summer I started learning a new trick on my lil ramp. At this point I’m feeling comfortable with the motion, and I’m slowly adding speed to go bigger. Feels good. Frontside kick turns unlocked 🔓🏄‍♂️🛹 #surfskafe

I very much enjoy Murderbot. It is charming, unexpected, and so funny . The ensemble works magic. The premise feels fresh. The show-in-a-show is impeccable. Some of my friends don’t get it at all, so I know it’s not for everyone. But wow, I am looking forward to more Murderbot

The weather has been exceptional and I am surfing the neighborhood. Each street provides a new texture under the board. My wheels are incredibly soft so the ride has a slimy feel. It’s gross and perfect. I am carving wide down big slopes, and pumping up small hills. Feels good . #surfskate

Hey if you haven’t watched The Residence you should. It’s a Clue-like detective story that takes place in the White House and it is amazing .

I’ve updated my lil pachinko game with a shop, a high score system , and an unnecessary and obtrusive custom ui framework. Idk it happens we’re having fun out here .

Hey, I made another game!

[UPKICK]

This light-weight multiplayer game pits fighter against fighter. You can jump, and you can kick, but can you survive? Check it out:

You must watch Paradise. You must. Characters. Real characters you care about come alive in a single episode.

Sterling is exactly that. The whole cast is impeccable. Also it’s beautiful, realistic science fiction.

I’m trying to convey that this show is good and you should watch Paradise.

This is the first and best book I’ve ever read on Machine Learning. I picked up Collective Intelligence in 2008 and saw the next 20 years. Great book. 2 notes
1 the first page is kind of quaint and kind of harrowing
2 we called it Collective Intelligence back then. I like that better

Nice day outside. Took a minute to carve in front of my house a bit . I’m still learning but also I want surf skating to be my whole personality .

Kitchen table art time is a staple. I like to do fan art of characters they like. Croagunk is a personal favorite

This talk from Rust Nation UK on Rust Web Applications is great. The title says it’s about “The Future” but the talk is much more. The presenter @gbj.dev discusses challenges and opportunities that brought us here, and how we can continue to innovate. Very cool info

I found a great video about blender and procedural waves 🌊 🌊 fluid dynamics + rendering technicals = curling, breaking waves that crash and recede. Awesome.

The curious creator shares some theory and experimentation. And the final render is incredible. Check it out

I have been playing with a very cool #bevy UI crate called Famiq. It provides a bunch of useful UI widgets like progress bars, text input boxes, drop down selectors, modals, etc. And. And it’s easy to implement. Lots of great examples and documentation. impressive

Here is a great #bevy talk on the Bevy App. The presenter provides an overview of some pretty interesting topics like system stages and plugin lifecycle, as well as states and events. I was particularly interested in the bit about sub-apps . Cool stuff

I’m having a lot of fun playing with rust on the web. wasm_bindgen is a gift , and it makes the whole process so smooth. I was able to import a string from js, process it with a markup parser, and return the result without dealing with C-style character buffers. Smooooth
