It’s not that violence won’t happen. Fascism is violent by its nature. And resistance to violence can become violent. But these are incidents, not ethos. My only point in responding to the original post—we have historically seen oppression overthrown without violent coups. Movements led to change.

Have fun fighting your civil war. You sound no different than 2nd amendment nuts waiting for the day they can use their AR15 to fend off tanks and drones. If it comes to this, it is lost.

Maybe this is splitting hairs, but resistance and violence are different to me. The remark I reacted to was suggesting oppositional bloodshed. You can’t win that battle with the power of the US armed forced and militarized police. Hearts and minds must be won.

India 1947. Philippines 1986. Chile 1988. Serbia Otpor! 2000. I agree that the oppressor used violence in all of these cases, but still nonviolence prevailed. This kind of statement is ignorant of history. You’re not going to beat this moment by matching it with violence. It takes a movement.
