Just posted this on Monday. As the sirens and helicopters sound off in the distance, I'm thinking about the young part-time soldiers I was just talking to.

We must continue to insist—even more forcefully today—that this is absolutely not an appropriate mission for U.S. military personnel.
Talked to some National Guard kids from West Virginia on the street near my office. They don't have leave to go home for Thanksgiving this week.

They can't see their families, because the president wants to use them as political props. No doubt, though, there'll be a feast at Mar-a-Lago Thursday.

People like to say “Ah, but humans have ALWAYS been guided by hallucinations and mass belief!”

But look around. Look at who we’ve started electing. Something has changed. And what has most clearly changed is that the systems we built to impose some standards on public discourse have broken down.
I don’t think the electorate has ever not been guided by hallucinations, nor has the political aspect of government ever been rational. You do have to enter into people’s delusions and work from inside them at least somewhat, no? And have the humility to know you have some delusions of your own!

How dare you not tend to my insecurities by showing me proper deference.

Hospitals, insurers, drug companies & private-equity backed provider networks all make a lot of money from our healthcare system & they all lobby against Medicare for All.

The question isn’t “why don’t we have Medicare for All?” It’s “who exactly would lose money if we did?”

This really needs to be stressed, as it seems obvious Trump is going to let them vote to release it and then pretend his hands are tied.

He’s had the power to release them all along, and still does. It’s just his excuses that are changing.
The second paragraph of every article about Trump freeing House Republicans to vote to release the Epstein files should make it clear that he could order them released himself and chooses not to.
