I've been working on a IX House themed enclosure for Matthias. I think I about have the 'We do bones, motherfucker' vibes locked down.
A coffin shaped clear acrylic enclosure with the tarantula cribs logo on the front. Inside on the ground is dirt, moss, and leaf litter as well as 3 small bones (a femur and 2 fibia/tibia). On the left is a moss ledge with a skull. Behind that is a hanging vine with attached bones. In the middle is a black mesh web with a coffin shaped hide covered in moss with a black skull attached. Above that is a round black hide filled with green moss. A bone colored skull is on top of that. To the right is a larger skull with its mouth agape. A bone bridge goes from the top left towards the bottom right A closer view if the moss ledge, and round and coffin shaped hides. A better view of the bridge and bone-strewn bottom of the enclosure

The Costa's hummingbird is back as well as a verdin.

Elia, a brindle greyhound, sleeps on the floor like a fuzzy obstacle, while a perfectly good grey and tan dog bed sits on the floor behind her. It is not being used because why sleep on a memory foam bed when you can trip me every time I try to move?

New little pet. Matthias, the regal jumping spider (Phidippus regius). He does not have his 9th House themed enclosure yet due to furlough reasons, but once it's set up, I'll post more pictures.

For now, here he is. I like his spooky ghost face on his abdomen

If you are not familiar with Shane's work you should check her out. Lovely desert inspired art, jewelry, and mystery books that take place in the SW

So I have been trying to eat beans for lunches because they are good and fiber is your friend. This week, it's Midnight Black Beans from @ranchogordo.bsky.social.

Out local butcher (shout out Lomo Meats) had cheap chuck eye and boneless short rib. And birria bombs. So birria black beans and meat.

My wife and I attended an author event with Matt Dinniman, the author of Dungeon Crawler Carl, last night. Good times were had by all. Princess Donut was in attendance. He did a great job of answering questions without spoilers, and the audience kept things spoilers free as well.

I have one of these snakes. It is cute AF. Does it stop drafts? It seems like it would. That said, I keep it on my spare chair to cheer me on while I fail at video games. It's an excellent cheerleader (despite lacking arms to clap). You need a draft stopping cheer snake.

As the world is *gestures at everything* I've been trying to focus more on self-care lately. The products from @jumpyjellybeanbath.bsky.social have really helped.

Ortus on House business. Well, mostly just laying around.
