I am an adult woman over the age of 50. Pro-LGBTQ+, possibly AuDHD, progressive, I read a lot, mostly “cozy” stuff. Fibromyalgia, arthritis kind of everywhere, wonky liver & gallbladder, and a limited amount of patience with the willfully ignorant. She/her
So, okay, I might have been doing a deep dive on romantic comedies right now. Meghan Quinn is pretty good, though I've DNF'd a couple of her books now.

Completed (over the weekend):
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking (audiobook) - I listened to this as often as possible when my kiddo and I were on longer drives... which happens a lot, actually. I had read the book previously, which got me to read a bunch more @tkingfisher.com books.

Finished:
1) Hemlock & Silver by T Kingfisher @tkingfisher.com. She does creepy so, so well. Also, great characters, excellent banter, and generally fun, twisty story.
2) Daindreth's Outlaw - Good story-telling, definitely a mid-series book. I have alreayd started the next.

Current reads: All fantasy because the real world is a nightmare, and I'm pretty sure I can rely on these authors to give me a happier outcome than I foresee right now.

I'm just starting Hemlock & Silver by @tkingfisher.com. The intrigue is just starting. And look, I really love that we have a FMC who is awkward with kids. In spite of me having one, I've always felt awkward around kids in general (my own being one of a few notable exceptions).

I am happy to report that all of my family's prescriptions have been moved from the local CVS inside Target to a new pharmacy with better customer service and, obviously, not inside Target. It's not much, but it's *something* I could do to stop supporting those who support the dictator.

We had a very mild earthquake in our area. I like that the alerts give you a heads up. It was maybe 30 seconds, enough to think about what I was going to do if it was intense.

I'm a jaded California native, though, so I still waited to see if it was worth crawling under my desk. It was not.

Sometimes it's really interesting to watch people who ignored your warnings find out *why* they shouldn't ignore your warnings.

This is both a work and political post.

Pro tip: If someobdy says "Hey, you havne't send form [X]. What I have from you is forms [Y] and [Z]," you need to be extremely careful about your next step. If that is to send every email and form you've already sent and none of them are form [X], expect a polite but firm "BZZZT! WRONG!"

I walked in to 44 emails in my inbox. That's significantly less than what I was receiving due to all the superfluous notification emails that are now sent to a separate folder. It's still daunting, though. The nice part, is most of my inbox emails didn't require any action on my part, either.

I was under a bit of a rock this morning, but now I have this running in the background while I work, and check in from time to time (I'm responsible for phones and greeting visitors). I can't have anything on too loud, but I'm listening as much as I can.

To quote Firesign Theater: How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?

That's my work day today and most days. I would have rage quit this morning, but I need the medical insurance.

This is life for the common worker in the U.S. Dystopian is an apt description.

I just love it when somebody sends me an old key request as a reminder, like I haven't already filled it. Because then I can send them back the email I sent to the end-user three weeks ago, cc'ing the sender, letting them both know that the key is ready for pickup and giving them my available hours.

If something is an emergency, you don't need to explain exactly why. Usually, a description of what the isue is will be sufficient. Your rambling explanation is unnecessary and wastes time. This is especially true if the person answering your call immediately says "Got it. What's going on?" That...

ION... I just remembered last week that my kiddo is bridging from a Cadette to a Senior Girl Scout this year. :::sigh::: Just yesterday they were an adorable Brownie. Right? Yeah. So now that our cookie season is over, my first order of business is to fix up their vest. I mean, gardening, giving...

I think the interview went well. I hope. It was something of a "getting to know you" type interview. I mentioned that I love reading. They asked who my favorite author is and why. T. Kingfisher, of course! Fantastic world-building, relatable characters, thoughtful social commentary... I love her.

Heading out to a 2nd Level Interview for a new position on campus. I have bad luck with these... Of the many positions I've had a 2nd Level Interview for, I've gotten hired *once*. I have better luck with getting hired straight off of a 1st Level Interview. Maximum Effort.

Bahahahahah! I just got blocked by some idiot MAGAT who thinks 47 is being persecuted because of the massive amount of lawsuits from his last administration and rulings against his current actions, and that the US government wasn't meant to be a democracy (a representative democracy). Yay!

Just when I thought I was done with Field Agreements. Nope. So I'm going to the Union to get their help with filing to be listed as working out of class. Maybe some back pay, but at the very least, they get to pay me extra for the Field Agreements. Clerks shouldn't solicit or review contracts.

Woke up at 3:45 a.m. to the sound of rain hitting our bedroom window, hard. That's okay, I was up and down most of the night due to a strong bout of existential dread. My country is being torn apart. I fear for my kiddo's safety. I fear for my friends who work for federally funded programs. Yeah.

I am about to have a huge, onerous duty lifted from my workload and I can't tell you how happy I am. Because it's a lot, and I never should have been doing it. I used to be responsible for all of our maintenance projects, and now I am shedding the last bits of that except for requisitions.

No government can operate without the consent of the people. Without the expressed will of the governed. If democrats want our support, if they want us to stand behind them, then we need to see them standing up, and we need to see that yesterday, today, tomorrow, and every single day. /5

TFW you know you did every single thing you were supposed to do, but the next person in line dropped the ball completely... and you are still the person who has to fix it, and it's not even the first time it happened! Kinda livid this morning.

There's nothing quite like getting dinged for an outstanding invoice *form last year* only to find out I did everything I was supposed to on my end, but the department responsible for actually paying did... nothing.
