I had a rare and wonderful opportunity to try Ai-chan's shishi gashira after learning the basics of the Shishimai Japanese Lion Dance in a series of workshops she taught at #NATC2025! I am very grateful for her generosity and encouragement! #taiko #shishimai

One week in and guess what? I'm still extremely happy that I did the thing! Mom is going to see it for the first time today, as I'm taking her out for early mother's day, and she's been pretty critical of the idea of it over the phone.... so we'll see how today goes.

The crabapple trees are all blooming right now and it's just so lovely. This is my favorite time of year to live in south Minneapolis.

This tree's roots were pretty cool. We hung out for a bit, this tree is my buddy now. It's been through a lot. I like how it's just rolled with having the ground erode out from under it's little tree feets, and it grew more bark and was like, "it's cool maaaan."

Did the thing! It was the piercing studio (Hail Mary) that's currently leasing the building JW Hulme used to be in. So it was neat to see the building again.
