Another successful burn in Kimberley, BC. Dry mixed conifer forest of western larch, Douglas-fir, ponderosa pine and lodgepole pine contains a wide range of fuelbeds (timber litter, low shrub, tall shrub, grass, etc.) complicating objective setting.

#FireScarFriday entry: scarred Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) in northern Mongolia (photo taken in 1996). This particular tree (a snag) had eight visible scars before sampling and ten after.

So proud of the prescribed and cultural fire collaboration that is coming together in the East Kootenays of BC. The team, consisting of Cranbrook Fire, Kimberley Fire, ?aq'am, BCWS, and numerous others, pulled off 3 burns in 3 days. The level of dedication to this important work is truly inspiring.
