Fionn McArthur

Orkney based videographer and photographer. Happiest walking, on my bike or in a kayak.
Hilarious, and depressing, in equal measure. Bravo!

Rothiesholm (Orkney)
Pron. Rousam

Also, was always told that 'Twatt' should be pronounced 'Twot' (though the lady that told me that also had the unfortunate placename as a surname, so we simply began referring to her as Hyacinth Bouquet)

Lovely stuff! I'm never convinced the estate agents standard room-blitzing bounced flash shows this kind of decor at its best.

Be interesting to see how they perform. Been planting small numbers without guards/mats at a site in Orkney (mainly rowan and birch) and surprised how well they've done, but be interested to see more sustainable options for more exposed/browsed sites. Will be watching with interest.

How it becomes weaponised, how he becomes some sort of martyr and how it draws more young white men to this toxic ideology is what frightens me. Not to mention the way that Epstein conveniently disappears into the long grass.

Sadly, my timeline was rather full last night with people celebrating the shooting. Thankfully those who you'd expect to be more sensible generally were. The potential this sort of event has to ignite is quite terrifying.

Aye, but probably best to call her a wanker first, just to be safe.

Dunno, but they're cruisin for a bruisin

No, it's a response entirely in spirit of original post (the far right in UK also make big deal of how it's not safe to walk the streets of many major cities - much at odds with day-to-day experience of vast majority of residents)

Back when I worked for the local BBC radio station I once attended an SWRI event where a lovely old dear said 'Ooh, YOU'RE Fionn McArthur?! You sound much fatter on the radio!'
I always took that as a great compliment, rotund=sonorous delivery.

Ah, but that's all the fault of migrants and official red tape, according to subtle (and not-so subtle) messaging on most the nostalgia-based Facebook pages I see.

Nothing to do with the tax-avoiding online stores whose owners back right wing political movements worldwide.

Seriously?? Do they not realise that when you take it home it's just another fecking stone!!? Ironically, probably the same kind of idiots who shirk at the prospect of taking home a couple of their empty beer cans from a bothy 😢

Or just over the border in Scotland.
We are a little more aware than we'd like to be of 1967.

Indeed.
Also find it's a curious flex on Bluesky:
'Here's a screenshot of something really witty I wrote in response to Nigel Farage on X'

We went to watch the film last week. I enjoyed it but did genuinely come out the cinema wondering what story the other parties would tell. Was all kept v vague in the film but I'd have assumed that a publisher/prod company would be expected to do a wee bit of due diligence to avoid legal issues.

Indeed. My youngest daughter has been well taught, and enjoys nothing more than getting torn into them 😊

Everything about this image is just perfect. Beautiful.

Bit concerned about 38% of the UK population with which I share a small island off the coast of Europe.

Superb! Just brilliant to see them back.

Brilliant news! Thank you for cheering up my dreich Monday afternoon timeline.

Fiona was excellent, really good. Please do get her on again in the future.

I'm genuinely pleased to learn this. I was never a regular viewer but always had a soft spot for Fred Elliot and his sausage-based innuendo.

Oh come on Alastair. Does Coronation St still count as 'popular culture'?? I wasn't even certain it was still on air 😉
Great episode, as ever.
