Perpetual Despair
@finl3y.bsky.social
History Masters student doing a research dissertation on trans experiences of Section 28.

DMs not open because I’m not verifying my age.
It’s been dark and grey all day. The news has been depressing but sky god wants you to know that even when things are at their darkest, the sky can still go woke and get rid of all that evilness 🌈

Should read:

Farage says small business owners who thought Brexit would cut regulation have been betrayed - by charlatans like himself who spearheaded their betrayal.

Fixed it.

Great news for those having to deal with the cost of living in London where even on a salary of £46k you struggle so paying more tax is really gonna be a great help 🙄

Today in news I wish I hadn’t read

I'm offering my editorial skills to The Times for free. You're welcome

I don’t think people have fully grasped how serious the new right movement is about demolishing UK human rights. This is a considerably well funded movement with direct ties to the version that ushered in Trump. GB News is a key pillar in the destruction of UK democracy @thenewworldmag.bsky.social

Just looking through some stuff for research and this is what Labour said about the repeal of Section 28 in 2001.

Stop people studying English immediately

I’m going to have a wild guess that some of it will be to do with work not paying the bills and a lot of employers burning out their staff… as a first suggestion

Digital ID looking like it’s shaping up to be a real vote winner based on the petition map

Starmer is losing double the numbers of voters to the left than Reform. McSweeney should be fired. He’s dragging Labour into oblivion.

Having a break from study and non-fiction books to disappear into the King that is @stephenking.bsky.social and really enjoying where this is going

Take a moment to look at this from 1999 and look at today before sniggering at the fact that all the efforts to snuff us out back in the 1990s made zero difference when 2025 has the most out LGBTQIA community ever. You can’t erase us, no matter what you do. Alt Text elaborates further 😉

Picked up this @anneapplebaum.bsky.social today and after a few pages I’m seeing so much of what is happening in the UK. It seems the drift to the right has consistent patterns. A lot of friends and family have followed some of what I’ve read so far.

@stonewalluk.bsky.social what’s going on here?

EHRC leaked docs today say it’s 25k, their website says they received 50k and you are saying it’s 25k?

Why are you also now erasing trans people from your imagery?

Starting to look like you’ve clearly set your stall out doesn’t it?
July 31, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Anyone else noticed that imagery being used by @stonewalluk.bsky.social has abandoned any use of the progressive flag and has gone back to the rainbow?
July 31, 2025 at 6:34 PM
@stonewalluk.bsky.social are also claiming it’s 25k that the EHRC received
July 31, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Anyone know went @stonewalluk.bsky.social have also claimed the EHRC got 25k responses when we know the figure was 50k? Either the EHRC are only planning on looking at 12.5k responses or they’re binning off 25k responses. Which is it? And why does Stonewall have the same figure as the EHRC?

Should an econsult form be asking this? Especially if you've selected "general advice" which will have nothing to do with your birth sex? Any ideas @robinmoirawhite.bsky.social
July 16, 2025 at 12:26 PM
New rules just landed - you now have to be a woman at birth. Woman just became a new scientific identity despite it being a social construct.

Lord.

I’ve rewritten their example on gender critical beliefs and swapped out gender critical for white supremacy so everyone can see how ridiculous this protection of gender critical beliefs really is

Dissertation research purchases are piling up.

Lmao, this puts Streeting in 3rd place for Labour leader but when you look at the gulf between him and 1st and 2nd he’s not at all a considered option.
