Anime inspirations: Streets of Fire (1984)

Fusing 50s rock-and-roll aesthetics with 80s cybernoir dystopia, SoF was an influential cult hit in Japan.

One of the most direct influences can be seen in Bubblegum Crisis, with Priss' performance an homage to SoF's Ellen Aim and the Attackers.

Just between us? It’s possible to have a lot of objectively good things happening around you and still feel a little lost and lonely and afraid.

You know. In case anyone wondered.

A few minutes ago I didn't know this existed. Now I'm sorry I missed this play that played in london for 2 months in 1978. 😄😁

Pay no attention to satirical posts that can falsely be taken as fact.

Warner Bros. already gave up all worldwide rights of Coyote vs. ACME to Ketchup Entertainment. Ketchup is ready to launch the movie and market it the best they can.

Thank you.
Netflix executive Ted Sarandos is quickly showing he means business by cancelling the highly anticipated Coyote vs. Acme a second time.

I love it so much.
40 years ago today, on December 6th, 1979, the basically unfinished Star Trek: The Motion Picture, in which Spock gets his heart, premiered in Washington D.C. I'm in the pro camp on this one, eschewing that silly odd/even thing with the Trek films.

A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

🧵 On 6 December 1989 a man entered a mechanical engineering classroom at Montreal’s École Polytechnique with a semi automatic weapon. Separating women and men, he shot the women, screaming, “You are all feminists”
14 women were murdered. Today we remember their names and not his.

Just remembered that I've got about 3000 words on The Donnas sitting on my laptop that I submitted to 33 1/3 but now isn't gonna be used. Thinking of either putting on Punk Rock Philosophy or turning into a zine or mini book- would anyone wanna read it if I did that?

I wish people wouldn’t go on about how important it is to see movies in theaters and then post images from them on here instead of letting people experience them for the first time in the cinema, it seems really counterproductive
