I was a Kennedy Center Citizen Artist and was so proud of the programs in place to represent all communities at the Kennedy Center. Deborah always showed support for artists. Art is resistance, we must continue to create in and out of institutions.
Deborah Rutter was fired this week after a decade as president of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
She says the center worked hard to expand its audience by broadening the programming, inviting "all manner of arts and artists to our stages. ... I pray that that can be sustained."
