This is incredible. CHUM's 1996 Century Media debut "Dead to the World" is being reissued by our pals at Outer Orbit Records. West Virginia metal, and way ahead of its time. I *highly* recommend this record.

Gretsch 7680 Atkins Super Axe
"Nobody knows more about electric guitars than Chet Atkins." That's how the advertising copy for his Super Axe starts. In the accompanying picture, he's holding one of these guitars out with a smile on his face. The guitar is shaped like a rounder, oversized Telecaster with a pointier cutaway. It has a solid body and comes with two humbuckers, a 3-way switch, and a stop tailpiece. It's also got a built-in compressor and phaser, which was a big deal back in the day. There's a volume and tone control, a blend knob and a rate knob for the phaser, a sustain knob for the compressor, and an on-off switch for each of the effects. Despite being lauded in the headline for the ad copy as "A new Gretsch great!", this guitar was only made for two years. I guess it's hard to get that "Great Gretsch Sound!" with a guitar that has none of the features that a Gretsch normally has.
