Professor Marlene L. Daut's Henry Christophe book has been enlightening reading so far, but when I read this passage, my jaw dropped. The article she's citing was written in 1805! 1805!

I also run a side blog called Twilight Zone in Close-ups where I tested my working theory that every Twilight Zone story could be conveyed by each episode’s close-ups alone.
