I rewatched Dune last night. Fuck, that movie is gorgeous but the casting/performances seem focused on aesthetics more than essence. For a tale of kingdoms clashing, there is a lack of regal poise. Baron seems bored, Jessica too emotional, and Chalamet kept reminding me of Luke Wilson in X-Files.

When I see a hacker sharing a search site to drive home how easy personal data is to find, I use that site to find someone awesome I've not seen in twenty years, text him with some proof it's me, and get the response: "blue hair amazing person!"

Yesterday I got to see Wim Wenders and his latest 3D documentary Anselm. It was inspiring. Rather than take photos while he was talking, I instead drew for the first time in months.

This is why, much as I respect his philosophy, I don't like the art of Keith Haring. It uses the visual language of motion lines so excessively that they lose meaning; a pitfall of focusing on aesthetics above communication.
